This YouTube video from the 1988 Olympics shows and discusses school figures.
Subscriber Nancy Grieder found this and suggested I put it up. She said
"I came across this while surfing. It is awesome to watch! Maybe you could share
with your website subscribers. Some people have never seen figures done before!"
Thanks Nancy! -Trevor
The original location where Nancy found this was
Boot and Blade. There's some commentary there if you're interested.
It's interesting to see the opinions of the participants at the time.
Check out the
interview with Frank Carroll to hear what Frank had to say recently about
figures (Track 1).

The control that you had to have was such a great foundation for everything in free skating. I know that Moves in the Field were supposed to take place of figures, but it is still not quite the same. I still do figures with my students to help them with their turns and edges. Thanks again Trevor!!

I'm not sure what in it could have violated the copyright terms. Are there any other similar videos out there? I would love to have a chance to observe some patch!
