Chris Conte finishes his series on improvements to learn-to-skate by covering the use of hockey lunges to create turns, spins, and jumps (Part 7).  Chris discusses how the edge pressure learned in hockey lunges is used to create spin entries, forward outside three turns, and axel type jumps.
Chris Conte explains how the skills learned in hockey lunges transition to crossovers and cross strokes (Part 6).  Chris discusses relaxed body and arms and teaches back lunges as well.
Chris Conte continues his suggested improvements to basic skills instruction with a discussion of hockey lunges, crossovers, and skids and stops (Part 5).  Chris explains his ideas clearly with reasons backing up his thoughts.  These ideas are echoed by many top coaches.
Chris Conte offers insights into jump air position and the moment of impact and how new drills can improve how skaters learn this (Part 4).  In particular, Chris discusses how simulating jump rotational position with a traditional backspin is less effective than using a forward inside edge spin.
Chris Conte continues his discussion of suggested improvements to learn-to-skate curricula (Part 3) with a discussion of proper arm movements.  In this part Chris talks about arms for jumping and variations on doing the drills as well as common problems with the way these drills are typically taught.
Chris Conte continues his discussion of suggested improvements to learn-to-skate curricula (Part 2).  In this part Chris works with a pigeon toe version of the two foot spin to develop proper air position awareness.  Chris calls this the "tornado."
Chris Conte offers some tips for learn-to-skate coaches to help their skaters develop edge power and rotation more quickly.  This is a multi-part series, and in this part Chris discusses monkey drops, swizzles, and rotating swizzles with important observations on arm positions.  Great video.
Chris Conte finishes his presentation on IJS rules as of August 2010 (Part 6).  In this part, Chris discusses spin variations and the new terminology and rules associated with repeating difficult variations.
Chris Conte continues his presentation on IJS rules as of August 2010 (Part 5).  In this part, Chris discusses spins and the changes that make spins with change of foot more balanced.
Chris Conte continues his presentation on IJS rules as of August 2010 (Part 4).  In this part, Chris discusses spins and some of the rule changes and nuances related to spins.
Chris Conte continues his presentation on IJS rules as of August 2010 (Part 3).  In this part, Chris discusses the changes to the step sequence rules.
Chris Conte continues his presentation on IJS rules as of August 2010 (Part 2).  In this part, Chris discusses the spiral sequence changes and adds a few more general thoughts about the new Technical Handbook.
Chris Conte gives a presentation on IJS rules as of August 2010 (Part 1).  This is the first of a 6 part series and in this video, Chris introduces some IJS concepts and lays the foundation for the rest of the presentation.
Chris Conte gives yet another lesson at the 2009 G2C Extreme camp.  In this video, Chris works on axel and flip-loop combination.  Notice the classic things Chris focuses on (head position and straight axis leg in the air) and the clever and imaginative terminology that Chris uses with his skaters to convey information quickly and clearly.
Chris Conte finishes his lesson preparing a skater for an exhibition performance.  This video is the third of three.  The focus in this part of the lesson is on the technical aspects of a double toe loop.  Chris puts his assistant coach Odie to work as well.
Chris Conte continues his lesson to prepare a skater for an exhibition performance.  This video is the second of three.  The focus in this part of the lesson is on a jump combination.  Chris shows a great exercise which he calls the "Russian twist."
Chris Conte gives a lesson to a skater in preparation for an exhibition performance.  This video is the first of three.  Chris focuses on important body positions and flow throughout jumps.  Chris also mentions an important "pivot point" that can be helpful on jump landings.
ANALYSIS: Double/Triple Salchow - concepts to take double salchow to triple
Main Issues:  no major issues
ANALYSIS: Single Axel - two axels, one landed, one fall
Main Issues:  squatting entrance, toe scratch, lunge step, pre-rotated take-off
Chris Conte gives a pole harness lesson on double axel.  This video is a continuation of Chris's earlier "Cat and Mouse" video.  Notice all the imagery that Chris uses to get his concepts across and see how he incorporates video analysis right into the pole harness lesson.
Chris Conte gives a double axel lesson in the stationary harness.  In this 'sitting in on a lesson' video format, Chris shares brilliant information as usual.  Listen to how Chris explains complex concepts to the skater.
Chris Conte describes and shows a full development program for teaching the double salchow.  Chris uses a demonstrator to show the drills and these drills are appropriate for single, double, and triple salchow development.

ANALYSIS: Double Salchow - swingy attempt,  under-rotated, lands on wrong foot
Main Issues:  entry position and control, open hip at take-off, turn-over
ANALYSIS: Triple Salchow - in pole harness, assisted air time
Main Issues:  ankle contact, ponytail in face
ANALYSIS: Triple Salchow - lacks flight time, cheated landing
Main Issues:  rotational position, take-off position
Chris Conte describes his "Cat and Mouse" method of teaching a skater to snap into the rotational position.  See how he uses simple stickers to make a point and keep things simple for his skaters.  Skaters will not forget these concepts.
Chris Conte discusses "3 Turn Magic" which is a system for developing walk-throughs of jumps.  These drills are outstanding for developing skater alignment, stability and control.
Chris Conte demonstrates and describes a full development program for teaching a double loop.  Chris shows several drills and exercises as part of a comprehensive sequence leading up to the jump.
ANALYSIS: Double Loop - shoulder pre-rotation with fall
Main Issues:  shoulder pre-rotation, head turn, rotation off the hip, etc.
ANALYSIS: Double Axel - attempt from back outside edge
Main Issues:  purpose of analysis is to point out one critical aspect of all jumps
ANALYSIS: Double Loop - lacks height and rotation, but no fall
Main Issues:  shoulder position on entry, off hip at take-off, no ankle contact, external rotation of landing hip, chin position on landing
ANALYSIS: Double Axel - attempt from back outside edge resulting in a fall, lacks height and rotation
Main Issues:  free leg trajectory
ANALYSIS: Double Axel - attempt from back outside edge resulting in a fall, lacks height and rotation
Main Issues:  body placement, hips closing early, free foot during pass-by
ANALYSIS: Double Axel - attempt from a standstill resulting in a fall, lacks height and rotation
